The Canadian Minority Media Database
Minority media are a vital component of our media ecosystem and contribute greatly to our cultural diversity and heritage. However, they often go unnoticed as they target specific ethnic groups and are overshadowed by the majority media, whether national or transnational. The purpose of the Canadian Minority Media Database is to shed light on minority media both in their operations and as subjects of scholarly research.
The Canadian Minority Media Database comprises three open-access databases:

The Canadian Ethnic Media Index (CEMI) provides a comprehensive index of past and present Canadian-based ethnic media.
- The Canadian Indigenous Media Index (CIMI) provides a comprehensive index of past and present Canadian-based Indigenous media.

The Canadian Minority Media Bibliography (CMMB) is a comprehensive compilation of scholarly references (e.g., articles, book chapters, books, and professional reports) dealing specifically with Canadian-based ethnic and aboriginal media.
Francopass
The result of a collaboration between the MLCS Department and the Department of Computing Science, Francopass is a web application designed to encourage participation in French-language activities within the local community to strengthen linguistic and (inter)cultural skills.
Francopass draws on a variety of pedagogical approaches, including gamification (e.g., points to earn, leaderboards, and badges), to make participation both fun and rewarding and to offer authentic learning opportunities. It is a one-of-a-kind application that bridges the gap between the classroom and the community. To date, more than a dozen local Francophone organizations have used Francopass to promote their activities (e.g., theatre, cinema, art exhibitions, discussion clubs).

These resources can be helpful for anyone interested in learning more about translation policies, researchers with an interest in translation and language policies, and municipalities seeking to develop their own multilingual frameworks.
Alternative francophone
Alternative francophone is a peer-reviewed academic journal whose goal is to rethink the notion of francophonie according to the following lines: 1) to consider French as a minor language rather than as a universal language or a language of exception, 2) to promote exchanges between all francophonies, 3) to explore the diversity of cultural and identity configurations produced in the francophone context, 4) to implement a francophonie of resistance against linguistic and cultural totalitarianism.

The Francopains blog features the French-language contributions from students in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta on a variety of topics, including cultural activities, current events, and projects carried out in collaboration with community organizations.The blog offers a variety of resources in French and more.
